The old crafts section

The old crafts section primarily cherishes the old-time pottery and weaving crafts, as well as the manufacture of traditional folk costumes.

Since the establishment of Ethno associations “Zavičaj,” the older female members started making of the traditional costumes for the need of folklore ensembles and other sections of the association. Since 2009., thanks to the projects that were primary supported by the Ministry of Agriculture and then 2010/2011. with the support of the National Employment Service and the U.S. Embassy in Belgrade, some members of the Association were trained for production of traditional costumes, so today there are seven women from countryside who are qualified for this handcraft. They are successful in producing traditional costumes for folklore ensembles from Serbia and the Diaspora. These projects have made replicas of clothing over 100 years old that are in the collections of the National Museum in Uzice, the Ethnographic Museum in Belgrade and Ethno Park “Terzica Avlija”. On that occasion, were issued personal stamps on the theme of making traditional costumes of Uzice region, and the same catalog of costumes made by members of Ethno Association “Zavičaj.” The U.S. Ambassador in Serbia Mrs Mary Warlick honored members of this section of Ethno Association “Zavičaj”, after successfull implementation of their project.
