Our vision is to make Zlakusa the first environmentally clean tourist village in Zlatibor district.

One of the goals of the Ethno Association “Zavicaj” is the preservation of the environment, through the development of environmental awareness of local people, through rising voluntary spirit of youth through organizing international voluntary eco camps, and all these actions are in order to fully clean the village and local streams and to declare the village Zlakusa the first environmentally clean tourist village in the Zlatibor district.

During the period of 2009 – 2012. there were four international voluntary eco camps. Besides young people from the local community, students from 50 different countries participated, too. Foreign guests were from:  Canada, Finland, Sweden, Korea, Spain, France, Italy, Germany, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Greece, Macedonia, Russia, Turkey … Through these eco camps they have cleared a large number of illegal dump sites along marked footpaths (an average of 850 bags of 70 lit of trash and two tractors of solid waste per eco camp) and camps are rated among the best organized of its kind in Serbia.

The first eco-camp in Zlakusa was organized by Ethno Park “Terzica Avlija” and Ecology Department of the Ethno Association “Zavicaj” and the next eco camps were supported by the town of Uzice (2010, 2011), the Fund for Environmental Protection of the City of Uzice (2011, 2012), the Ministry of Economy and Regional Development (2012) and the U.S. Embassy in Serbia (2012) and with the great support of Hikers Society “Rujno” and the Department of Rural tourism of Ethno Association “Zavicaj” and the sponsor companies like Zlatiborac, Controlpoint (Uzice),etc…
